I am thinking ZX3 Focus 5 spd. or possibly an SVT Contour. Does anyone know where I can get my hands on one for around $3000-4000?

I would like to stick to the Ford Family this time...no more Mazdas until it is a Spec Miata!

Dave - we just got one:

$3,184 - 2000 zx3, 5spd, 50k mi, cd, a/c, etc. needs airbags - but if you are using it for HPDE - you probably don't want airbags.

Hey Jim,

How badly is it damaged? I assume that since the air bag has been deployed, then there is probably also some damage. Give me a call tomorrow with a little more information buddy. 336-413-6154. Thank you Mr. Pantas!!

Dave

It slid under something - enough to push the hood up - and deploy the airbags - airbags would cost $2000 to replace that is why it was totalled - here's pics of when we bought it:

We have replaced the winshield and pushed the hood back down - you can hardly tell - except for the scratches on the hood and blown airbags...

Hey Jim,

Do you have any more pictures? Is it a DOHC or SOHC? Do you have a number I can reach you at tomorrow? Thanks bud!

What a cool ride! I drove it from Charlotte to Edenton, NC and back home yesterday/today - I was scooting along at 80+ and it was like it was on rails! and I got 34+ mpg!

KBB Book Value - $7260 (http://www.kbb.com/kb/ki.dll/kw.kc.ur?kbb.NC;615061;NC025&28124;hch+r&40;Ford;2000%20Focus&5;FO;Z4&&&)

Thanks for the information Jim. It sounds like a great little car, its just more money than I would like to put into a salvage titled car. IMO, it will be harder to sell down the road because I will have to disclose that it has been damaged in excess of 25%...anyway, good luck selling the car...keep me in mind in the future though. Thanks bud!

the demand for these little cars has skyrocketed since gas prices went up

Even at the salvage auctions they are bringing 60% of book value less repair costs!

but it is a blast to drive, I drove it today to columbia, sc from concord, nc and only slowed down for that one police car ;)

If my memory serves me...do you work at an auto auction? I know you are THE NASA SE MAN, but do you still work at your old job? What auction do you attend? Just inquisitive...and still interested ;)

I work at the software company that services their website, and our offices are in their complex.

FYI - I just bought this one - '99 Steeda w/17" BBS wheels:

You can buy it now for $1,800. - if I fix it then the price will go up $2000.

I've gotta get something FWD, preferrably w/ a 4 cyl. engine so that it will go in the snow and get decent gas mileage. Thanks for the heads up on other vehicles that you come across! Take it easy Jim.

Hey Jim, email me at smckinney@yahoo.com with some details on the Steeda. thanks
