View Full Version : Rear Seat Delete

Just installed a rear seat delete kit in my 2001 Cobra Coupe. It looks and
fits good. The kit has Dark Char. carpet to match the interior with black
carpet on the inside truck surface. The only thing I don't like is the lack of
attachment to the vehicle. The top edge (near the speaker covers) is
attached under trim using two push pins. The rest of the kit just sits in
place using the semi-snug interferrence fit to the side trim panels in the
back of the cockpit. One good jolt and that kit will be sliding around inside
the car.

I'm looking into using a "Hood Pin" type fastening system on the lower surface
of the kit where your butt used to sit. This system will allow for easy access
to the two storage compartments underneath the lower kit surface. I hope
it doesn't look cheesy. I take pics when I'm done.

p.s. I have one complete rear seat and seat belt assemblies if anyone is
interested in purchasing. PM me. The seats are Dark Char. w/ grey inserts.

I'm thinking about getting a rear-seat delete for my car also. Post some pics once you get everything squared away. I want to see what the finished product looks like. I've never seen one up close and I'm thinking I can make my own and add my own special touch to it!

The rear seat delete looks good. I snap some pics next time I can get
the Cobra out in the sunlight. My cheap Digital Camera flash doesn't allow
for enough detail in the pictures.

The kit was $170 on partshopper.com but the same deluxe kit was
$160 direct from the maker www.themotorcompany.com

Here are some pics of the seat delete I made. It cost a lot less than what the others are selling for. It is made out of 3/4" plywood covered with the correct color carpet. I know that the color looks off in the pictures but in real life it is the same. The carpet is not a perfect match but that is because it is out of a different run/dye lot than the OEM carpet. I also made a couple of cubby holes to hide stuff in. I need to put hinges on the covers but I have been to lazy to do it.

I would be glad to help anyone who wants to make their own.
