i experience a loud noise when i lift off the gas or when i put it down at low speeds is this normal for this trans

Your transmission will have some play in it, that is pretty much the norm. ;)

it normal to hear a clunking noise when you let off of the gas a slow speeds. it wont hurt anything inside:eek:

From what I have read over the past two years is that the T-56 makes that noise and it does not matter what make of car it is in.:)

My local dealer wanted to change the fluid to see if it would help. To bad it didnt work. I just turn up the radio.:djsmile:

The only time I hear a clunk is when I am in a higher gear than required (namely 4th through 6th when cruising below 40mph).

I do recall however, when replacing trans fluid, the best on the market for the Tremec is the GM syncromesh trans fluid. The only reason I remember it was the comment "the only thing GM should be noted for".

The only noise you should be concerned with is the sing of the throw out bearing. Either it chirps like a cricket or sounds like a crystal glass half full of water and a wet finger is run along the rim of the glass. That sound is usually followed by hard shifting or grinding the syncros down to metal fragments.
