This first one was first thing Saturday morning. I had helped build some of the stages Thursday, but hadn't been able to take a look at this one. The bridges tilted, activating a moving target on the other side of the barricade. There were 4 bridges, 4 moving targets, and another 2 targets behind each barricade.

Here's where I pretty much screwed my chances of winning a trophy. There were 13 targets, and even more "no-shoots" strategically placed amongst them. I had a great plan for this stage, but the execution sucked

Another angle of the same stage. You started on either side, hands on the wall.

First stage Sunday morning. Shot this pretty good. There was another target like the one on the right on the left side, and two more 30 feet directly in front, with no shoots on either side. Starting seated in a chair, you had to retrieve your gun from a box and shoot the 4 targets. I did it 6.9 secs, and got all my hits.

They put you in all kinds of f'ed up shooting positions!

This Athena Lee. Houston shooter and former Women's World Champ and 2 time Womens Steel Challenge Champ. If you Houston fockers want to learn how to shoot, she's at ASC.

Mpeg of Lee D., the Overall winner this weekend, shooting. I spent most of my time Thursday building this stage, so you figure I should shoot it good. I did alright, but I forgot a planned reload which added a couple seconds to my time.

My goal was to win a trophy, which didn't happen. But I did leave with 2000 bullets from the prize table. I won't have to buy bullets for a while :D

WOW!!!
Nice ! That looks like a lot of fun!!!

Great to have those skills developed.... you never know when you might need them...

I need to get practicing myself.... this little bitty KICKER is not too great on double taps...

But it does conceal exceedingly well ;)

There is an IPSC/USPSA match at ASC on Tuesday evenings. The IDPA club move out to Brookshire and shoots Wednesdays.

There is a listing of all the Houston IDPA clubs here:

Click on "Links" on the left side.

IPSC/USPSA club info is here:

Lemme know if you want to give it a whirl. Do this once, and standing at the range putting holes in paper will seem incredibly boring :D

Where else are you going to be able to run around with a loaded firearm, legally :p

<---- "all tingly inside"

I would like to try it...wonder if one of my current stash would be sufficient. Athena appears to be using a nice little scoped number. Definitely not the place to break in the Bushmaster and Crimson Trace, huh!

I'm not sure who builds Athena's gun. I'll ask for you if you want.

Save the Bushmaster for the carbine match :D

What you have in your stash will determine what you division you shoot. Any 9mm semi-auto is a good start (Glocks are great for this stuff), or 1911 in 9mm or .45

So the old workhorse Browning 9 semi would work...I was thinking about a lighter weight 9, but not sure if "honey, I need another handgun" would fly. Isn't that a switch. Although...for every new bit of bling on the grey car...tee hee.

I have a lot more bling to add to the grey car and my Ford GT to make for 446 Jeanie Lynn :D

I know a few guys that shoot Hi-Powers in IDPA. Never seen one in USPSA, but that doesn't mean you can't. Just make sure you have plenty of mags.
