View Full Version : gearbox noise

Sorry if this has been discussed previously here, didn't see anything in the faq. I'm the proud owner of a 2003 vert silver on black. Havn't had any problems, except for the recent appearance of a whirring sound from the gearbox, increasing in pitch with the rpm's increasing. Took it to the dealer, they said it is called 'gearbox rollover', and that it's normal. I told them I didn't really care for the noise, and questioned whether the performance is still optimal. They said they could put a band-aid on it by replacing the fluid and replacing some bushings. How can I get rid of this noise? Thank you!

you're a newb, so we'll let it slide...unfortunately it's the perils of owning a mustang...it's not quiet...there is a gasket made by Cobrabob over on SVTperformance that supposedly makes a HUGE difference, you may wanna check that out (do a search for cobrabob's shifter gasket)
