I currently have a pair of 18X10.5 AFS on the back,

Running Toyo Proxes 295/35 R18's

so whats the deal with the 315's?? will they fit? we did grind down that bolt a little already. is it that big of an issue?

Now the fronts are 275/35R18's say the 315's will be OK,, are they going to be the exact same profile as the front 275/35's??

You should be fine..........you will have less of a chance of rubbing with the 18" wheels.

From what I recall, only the Nitto brand in the 315 size will fit since the Nitto's run smaller than most brands. The place where I bought my Toyo's also carried Nitto's. I trust there comments since that is their business. They mainly cater to BMW, Porche, Mercedies, mostly the imports but have been starting the domestic vehicles like the Corvette. Most of the rims they carry are way out of my budget. IF you want a profile of the wheel, just use the tire calculator:

if you're running the 10.5 rim w/out rubbing issues...you'll be fine with the 315's...most were saying that the 10.5 rim was giving them problems, so they needed a spacer...good luck

Let me now ask this,
THe 315's, are they 315/35/18?
or are they morelikley 315/45/18?

The main thing Im worried about now, is the profile of the 315 going to be the exact same as the 295/35's?

For the 18" wheel to be the same *size* you will need the 315/35R18

Yes I understand, but isnt a 315/35 going to be a lower profile than the 295/35 I have now?

THe problem is if thats the case I cannot buy the 315's until I need to replace the 275/35 fronts i just bought, other wise the back tires will be lower than the fronts, Im not doing that its dumb.

But if I can get the 315's to be the exact same PROFILE as the front 275/35's
then I can do it,

Do you know if the 315/35's are the same ??

According the the tire size calulator.....to have the front 275/35 match up with the rear, the rear tire would have to be 315/30R18.

Which I don't believe they make.

The 315/35 will rotate at a 4.3% difference then the front.

Hope this helps.

do you think the 315/35 would be LARGER in diamiter than the 275/35 front?

Because if the rear 315's are a slight bit LARGER than the the fronts thats fine, in fact that would look sort of trick, Do you know if it would be larger or smaller??

I am very thankfull for your help

Yes the 315/35 will be slightly larger then the front, so I think it'll look really good!

Just a note though, whn your speedo says you're doing 60mph you will actually be going around 62.xx mph. Nothing a little tuning couldn't fix if it bothers you.

Glad I could help out!

I would go to your local Discount Tire Company / Tire Kingdom / etc.... this way you will save on shipping!

Post some pics of those 18" when you get everything said and done with, I would like to see em'

Just some words of advice. I had 18x10 and with the 1 inch spacer I was rubbing the tire with my fender every time I hit a bump or small dip :banghead:. It was tearing up my rear tires. I had lowered the car then went and put the stock springs back on and that did not solve the problem. I recently bought and put on a set on 17 inch Boyds. Much better no rubbing. Just FYI.

I rub on a hard bump as well with my 18's and H&R's...very rarely, but I will hear it catch the fender well on occasion.

18's will rub fenderwell but, not have the IRS bolt issue.
17's will have IRS bolt issue but, not rub fenderwell.

Personally I'll take the 18's and deal with the fenderwell issue..besides what are you guys driving over that your car bounces that much? Or is it the springs just dropped it that much?

Not sure but my guess is 20,000 assuming not track or drag time..and no heavy foot...if you have any of those factors reduce this by 50%!

I sent mine to a guy in California but, you can probably find a machine shop that will do it..or just grind them your self..just make sure you only do half of the head....

I don't recommend using the Steeda bolts..nothing against them but, I have heard that these bolts are not to the same spec as the Ford bolt...so, I recomend shaving the bolt had to half it's current size..and then you still may need a spacer. This is typically only with 17 inch wheels. 18 inch..typcially this is not necessary. There is a thread on another site that breaks this down..if I can get to it today I will post it....if not it will be next week..as I will be in Carlisle for the rest of the week for the all Ford Show!
