Porsche recently unwrapped the LeMans prototype, with which it will return to American Le Mans Series (ALMS) LMP2 category racing. Built in cooperation of motorsport engineering firm ZF Sachs, the new prototype sports a 3.4-liter, 90-degree V8, hammering out 480hp, plus a six-speed, sequential gearbox (paddle shift o course) and triple-disc carbon-fiber racing clutch. A carbon-fiber monocoque chassis aids in keeping total weight to 750kilos, to comply with new ALMS requirements. Penske Motorsports will have exclusive use of the racer during the final two races of 2005, and will race it exclusively during the full 2006 season.

Actually, they won't be racing against Audi. The car above is a LMP2 class car, and Audi runs in LMP1. Somebody said something about a "non-aggression pact". Anyway, the LMP2 cars could probably be just as fast.
