Suspension install Q's
 
I was just checking the Kenny Brown site for suspension kits, and I see one for 299 that comes with 2 subframe connectors, 2 matrix braces, and 2 jacking rails. My Q is, is this stuff direct bolt in? Does it require welding? How hard are these to install, and about how long would it take for a competent car mechanic to do? Do they require adjustments to work properly? And last but not least, what other suspension mods go good with this as a first step? IS this a good first step in suspension modding? (lied about the last Q, whoops my bad).

YES, Welding is required on all six pieces. The matrix will most probably
require shortening also. Not a difficult install but the use of a lift and
an experienced welder is strongly suggested. Some aftermarket sub-frame
connectors are bolt-in but I don't have any experience with them, sorry!

like Lumpy said, they are weld in. When it comes to subframes, IMO DO NOT get bolt in types. You need weld in for any type of structural integrity. I would also look for a Mustang shop in your area that has experience welding in SFCs. A good welder can do it, but they might weld the wrong spots or weld too much. From what I have been told by installers, there in only a few point that need to be welded, and certian ares that shouldn't be welded.

Lumpydogs and Firme are exactly right.
- these are the first upgrade that everyone recommends.
- they will make a noticeable difference in the feel of your car
- bolt-in subframe connectors are a waste of money
- the install time by a good mechanic with a welder is about 3 hrs.
- the next upgrade recommended would be strut tower brace and
camber plates.
- if you can't find a shop to install, call the techs at KB, they can recommend
one in your area.
