the 1996 cooling upgrade was not limited to 1996 Cobras

it was also for 4.6 GT

the box of parts was 4 feet x 3 feet x 3 feet about the size of a kitchen stove

here are the high lights of what was replaced

ac condenser was replaced

radiator was replaced

radiator fan assembly was replaced

all hoses were replaced

thermostat was replaced

if you have a 97 cobra side by side with a unmodified 96 it is apparent to a blind man all the parts that were replaced

BTW on my 1996 this TBS mod did not work! The reason I only own good old push rod windsor engine Cobras today!!

There is a Mod that requires removing the rear freeze out plug in the back of the drivers side head and installing a hose to connect to the heater hose with a "Y" that really helps the cooling circulation.

I have a '96 cobra that I have owned for 8 years now. The first time I took it out on track it overheated and puked on the track. After this happened, I read on another stang site that there was a TSB on '96 cobras to have the radiator and water pump replaced. I then went to the local Ford dealer to have the TSB confirmed but my car was out of the time frame to have it performed.:( I replaced the radiator with a Fluidyne all aluminum radiator and have never overheated since.:D
