I need a new camera for pics

What are your recommendations for a new digital camera?

I have been looking at a Nikon P80 or a D60 SLR. Also a Fujifilm camera, your thoughts?

The wife has the D60 and she loves it. No complaints yet. Best Buy had been running a D60 and telephoto/zoom lens combo for several months, that's how she bought hers.

I would always opt for a DSLR. Just pick one up and see the response time, especially for action shots, versus a point and shoot.

A D60 is a SLR camera... and cost about the same as the S2000.

Sam's Club has the D60, probably for a better deal than Best Buy.

I would stick with a Nikon. I haven't heard anything about them fujifilms.

My Christmas present got here, it's a Nikon D90 with high res jpeg movie capable... :) Looking forward to trying it out and will need some pointers from y'all.

Meant to tell you the other day that you will need an extra battery (if you didn't already get one when you bought it). That way you wont get stuck out somewhere with a dead battery as the newer cameras go through them faster with all the new and extra features they have.

You wont regret getting the D90.

I'll be happy to use...err show you how to use it. ;)

Oh, I'll be happy to give you a list of lenses you need to get too. :D

Yep, Jacque and I plan to go to Best Buy and get a few accessories including a spare battery. Other items to get will be a tri-pod, camera case, and a 32g card or two 16g cards, remote, etc...

Oh, and stick with the Nikon batteries, they last longer. When I got mine it came with a second battery that was a third party make and the charge on it did not last as long.

Some of this you can get for quite a bit less online. You can usually get some good prices on Buydig.com and even Amazon.

We bought the camera new from Amazon for $182.00 less than Best Buy and Wolf Camera.
