Welcome Richard,
Can't say it is "normal" but it is very common. It has been debated on what the real problem is, but regardless it is there. Most R owners that I am aware of have left the hood alone. (including me).

Welcome! ditto what brian said, many have the same bubbles on their hoods.....I have the same issue with my hood, and havent done anything with it....apparently it was due to improper prep work where moisture was trapped in the material and is working its way out.

mine doesn't have it but i've seen other that do. i wouldn't change it as that is the way it came from ford. since these are limited edition cars, the slight imperfections are expected to some degree.

a word of caution on the hood - when you close it, be sure you let it drop from about a foot up or it won't latch. if youpush on it for the final latch yourisk creating a crack in it.

I have the bubbles on the hood of my R, #058. A good friend who is a paint/body expert said it was poor prep work at the factory. Also the rear spoiler/whale tail does not have clear coat on it from the factory.
