New member here,thanks for having me....I came across and bought a 94 cobra pacecar recently literally for pennies due to higher miles and a damaged drivers door.California car so not a spec of rust anywhere,shipping it to NJ was more than i paid for the entire car.All original runs like a top and all works.My question for you guys is this...SVT says my car is #161/1000.Havent received the document yet,but asked them 2 times to recheck and both times they said correct.My vin ends 158082...making it one of the earliest made.I figure my car should be in the 35-37 number range...any cars with vins near mine are in the 30s.I found car 158079,only 3 numbera earlier to be #32.Vins on cars numbered in the 160s are much higher...not even close.I just want the correct number since original docs and plaque are long gone.Guy at ford show parts said there was no rhyme or reason to how the cars were numbered when built...i dont see how that could be true of any production line.What do you all think?Thanks

If SVT says it is number 161, then it is number 161.

called again since svt certificate is way overdue....now svt says...yes there is a mistake somewhere ...car #32 vin 079,and my car if #161,vin 082 are 3 vins apart,built hours apart wont be 129 cars apart. Said my car does show as #161 and they dont really know why....I should have asked car numbers of vins 158081 and 083.Also said,yes they were numbered sequentially 1-1000 as they were vinned and built.i bet your car #22 vin is not far from mine.158082.Im sure this is not interesting to many but me,but id like to know for sure,if possible,thanks.

Mine is 158070 for number 22. Going by this trail of numbers, yours should be 35/1000 if the sequence is correct. Ford did do the Pace Cars first before the Coupes. They wanted them in the dealerships asap because the 1994 was the Indy Pace Car. They wanted the convertibles to showcase before the Coupes.

thanks for your input...i agree my car vin 158082 should be around number 35,which I would like to forward correct info to the guy on here keeping a list of the 1000 pace cars...anyway,i received the svt cert in the mail last night and sure enough says #161/1000 built 3/15/94...i dont get it.If anyone who sees this post knows car vin #around 35 id love to talk to you or cars #s with vins 158081 and 158083.......if not,I give up..Thanks again.

Hey, just picked up a 94 Cobra Pace Car. Last six of the vin is 158743. I didn't order the certificate package from Ford yet. It is a high mileage car with 94k, paint,body, decals are perfect. Needs a little TLC on the interior and other minor odds and ends. Does anyone know of mint/near mint seats out of a crashed pace car for sale? Or someone in NY that would do a good job redoing the original seats? Counting down the days until spring so.I could drop the top and go cruising.

No, the dash plaque is not there. Ordered the certificate and dash plaque today so I will wait and see what # mine is.

You can get the certificate but they will not have a dash plaque for you. They are unique to the car and they only made 1000 of them. You're plaque was given to the original owner. If you know who they are, you might want to see if they still have it.
