Not an OT or HPDE group, but I've thrown my hat in the SCCA ring for 2008. Bought a Spec Miata and gonna try it out, first race Jan 19th at MSRH. Sure gonna miss those extra 4 cylinders................

If you don't mind my asking, how much did the Spec Miata set you back?

Good luck to you Mike!!! and good for you!!!
That is supposed to be a really really fun series!! and I suspect not nearly as much "touching" as AI and CMC.

Here's wishing you lots of sustainable MOMENTUM!!!

Too much, I went for one that had a really good motor and all the goodies. $16K.

I'll try to head out there to watch. I may even try to bring a video camera. If I manage to hit MSRH, then I'll only be there for Saturday, but it would be really neat to check out the car (if you don't mind).

Just watch it out there...some crazy guys in that class. Some like a little contact.

*NEED IN CAR VIDEO*

I'll be running the in-car video. We're doing MSRH backwards (CW) so I'm sure to be a little more than timid with a new car, new track config, AND new racing buddies out there with me lol. Spec Pinata? I hope not....

Stop by and say Hello if you get the chance.

Sorry for the Hijack Stan, great links/post BTW!!

+1 w/ Jimmy. Great post and useful links all in one place.

Some questions for you, Stan; -

The TWS raceway, one up by College Station, where can I go to see if an upcoming class is booked up or not? Went to the main site of the raceway and there is nothing in there that says weather or not space is available for a given event.

There is one occurring sometime in March listed there, I think, for training and sport that I would like to look into. If there is still time and space to register, I would like to catch the one next Saturday for the one day.

Well, Jimmy, I went a step further and called Rusty at TWS. They are in the works to re-build the site and are well aware of the Forms, etc. needing updating. So, I sent it in as is, and he will re-adjust the date to let me know if there is still space on Sat. They are Two Instructors short right now and are limited on the spaces. It will be Wed before I will know for sure. Vieola just might see her first outing if all goes well.

Angel,

The TWS Motorsports Club has a Google group where they post all the details of upcoming HDPE weekends. The Chief Instructor, Misty Cain, is an American Iron racer and very nice lady. Here's a link to the group:
