New Member in SC

Hello,

I'm Anna, living in Anderson, SC. About to purchase an '01 Cobra. I'm mainly interested in track events, and was wondering if another member could weigh in on something for me....I'm really new to the whole track thing, but I was wondering if there are any regs against taking a convertible out there? Or is a coupe better?

Just curious....looking forward to being part of the group!

Anna

if you have a convertible, you will need a rollbar. So, if you are wanting to go on the track with it, and don't want to add a rollbar, get a coupe. The coupe will be a lot stiffer than a convertible, but nothing beats being able to drop the top on a beautiful sunny day. Convertibles with rollbars look real good. Welcome to the boards

Thanks. I guess I'll have to get a rollbar then....can't resist that open top, especially just in time for fall in the Carolinas!

there are several good bolt in kinds, or you can get someone to custom weld in one. They can be installed to where they don't disturb the interior at all.

Welcome to the board! like what everybody else said, your gonna need a roll-bar. Espicially if u plan on road-course, there are only a few types of roll bars u can have... so, u might wanta check into the regulations with whatever track u plan on going to.

Thanks for all of the advice...one of my track buddies (he's a traitor with a Nissan 350Z) told me that some of the tracks, like VIR, won't let you on with a vert unless you have all kinds of other "stuff"...more than just a rollbar.

Anyway, I went with the coupe. Bought it today...2001 Performance Red. Can't wait to post a pic, and meet some of you at the events!
