Buckeye Road Trip

Time to start considering and planning a Buckeye Road Trip to an SCMC event south of the Mason-Dixon Line as a group/caravan. It would be great to travel to an event and represent the Buckeye SCMC together.

3 events are potential choices...

4/5-4/6 Food Lion AutoFair - Charlotte, NC (Car Show)

5/30-6/1 SVT Cobra / Shelby GT 500 Nationals - Danville, VA

9/19-9/21 SCMC Gingerman ( I know this is "north" but we should go!)

Event details can be found on the SCMC club website.

Other NON-SCMC events to consider:

June 20-22 MCA Buckeye Nationals Mustang Show - Columbus Ohio
( info @ www.mustangclubofohio.com )

June 6-7 PINKS - All Out @ Summit Motorsports Park - strictly on a spectator basis but could be fun.

What do you all think? Can you make one, both?

As for me, only time will tell what I will be able to do in 2008. Having a child is now going to play a rather large role in both my free time and free budget!

My current plans for 2008 are:

-Possible indoor karting event sometime between jan and march!
-Possible dyno day as soon as the weather breaks, either a local shop in columbus, or (what I really would like to see Dan from Pro-Dyno come up here and tune some of our cars for us!)
-of course as many local drag events, autocrosses, and shows that time and money can support
-and like Mike said, I once again would like to participate in one out of town track event with the club. I did Gingerman in 2006, and VIR in 2007. I would love to attend the event at CMP, but the timing is just too early in the year. With my son's b-day on Sept 20th, I think the "fun police" is going to give the thumbs down gingerman this year. So as we sit right now, my event that I am shooting for is the VIR event on 5/30,5/31,and 6/1. I really would like to run both the full track on friday and the south course on sat and sun, which means heading down there thurs, and coming back mid afternnon on sunday. This is what Chris Anderson and I did this past year, and it worked out real nice.

Now all I have to do is figure out how to get a rollbar in this beautiful car!

Mike... If you don't mind having a Mark tag along... Mine should be ready for the road by April. I know it's not a Cobra.. but it thinks it is.

OK Buckeyes,

I am committing to the Dublin, Ohio Mustang Club of America Regional show 6/20-6/22. Who is in? Mike Monjot will put a tent in his backyard for us! I am sending my registration in! Hotel pending Big Mike's tent response!

I also am very close to committing to the SCMC Cobra/GT 500 Nationals in Danville, VA if there are enough Buckeyes going. Post up your responses!

Another Possible Event

Mike,
Would love to go to the Buckeye Stangs Show in Columbus but will be in Denver that week. Also, with coaching, most of my weekends are shot until the end of the school year. I will get to an event or two over the summer.

Another possibility is the Regional Mustang Show in Canada at the Ford Plant. It is the first weekend in August and I am planning on going up. If anyone is interested, I could set up a Cobravan to go up there.

Just an idea,
Mike

P.S. According to Dick Goddard, winter is half over!

I joined MCO to get the discounts for the June show in Dublin. Sent in the registration fee this week

Not sure about Pinks...I guess I could miss my daughter graduating with high honors from Ohio State

I would be interested in the show at the Ford plant in Canada

MojoDad,

I sent my registration in today for the Columbus Show - FYI. Planning on going down Fri. night I think...

I think you might meet your maker if you skip your daughters OSU graduation. High honors is quite impressive! Does the University give you a rebate for good grades?

Wouldn't miss her graduation for anything, it's my time to celebrate the end of the college tuition payments.
Getting psyched for the car shows this year, and I really can't wait to get the new mods done.

Man, I have been sleeping on this thread....... I am all in for throwing up a tent in the yard, and having a little get together. I am sure I will be particiapting in the Dublin show. I also assume that I will be going to graduation, so pinks looks out of the question.

Pending a rollbar, VIR also looks like my out of state event for the year. I will have more info in the future.

Hey all, looks like your all pulling some awesome events together. I'll be keeping everyone posted on what i'll be able to make it to or not.

I do have an event that i'm bringing up that sounds like a thrill. I almost made it to it last year, but wasn't able to because of a last second obligation.

Anyone ever heard of Road America? It's in Wisconson...and also a track on all of the Forza games. Well the MFBA is reserving the track again this year, and is open for registration. It's a little pricey, but wow...it's an amazing track. Back speeds easily hit 120-130s.

This years rates are as follows:

$220 - One spot, One day
$385 - One spot, Two days
$685 - One spot, Two days, Two events (only offered during April registration)
$15 - Saturday Night Dinner off site, one ticket
$5 - Daily spectator fee

two-day event time average around 300 miles or 3 1/2 hours of driving total. Speeds on the backstretch have been known to reach as high as 150

I'm pretty sure i'll be going to this event this year. Not sure if it will be one day or 2 days tho.

Anyone interested in maybe a caravan?? Just throwin it out there!
