Few deployment pics

All this talk about the Iranian gun boats messing with our ships over there made me pull out a few pics. These were taken a little over a year ago in the Arabian Gulf. We were doing an astern refueling and we had an Iranian Warship get rather close to us. Unlike what happened recently though they were rather nice and told us to have a good day.

Here is the supply ship or the gas station

They float the fuel line back to us and we pick it up and hook her up

Here's a chick my friend and I tied up with bungy cords. Good thing she was one of the little Navy girls!

Here is the Iranian ship..interesting day in the Gulf when your on a 188 foot Navy ship of 50 people.

Thanks man Here are a few more. I'm a MN1(SW) which is an E6 mineman. On shore duty we build and maintain underwater mines that take out enemy ships and subs. On sea duty which I am now unfortunatly we hunt and destroy the enemies mines before they take out our ships subs and especially us. Mineman on these small ships being minehunters and minesweepers do many task such as BM, QM, STG, GM, OS, PH. I am a MN but I run the Armory so filling a GM billet.
Here is a coastal minehunter but no longer is this platform in service. I decommissioned her in Bahrain last year and we sold two of them to the Egytions including this one. Some were sold to the Greeks and some are in lay up for Military sale. The minehunters are the largest ship in the world constructed entirely out of plastic or GRP. Mines go boom when they get a magnetic signature which is why. They also run quiet and create a small drawl which are other ways mines go off.

Here is our remote controlled sub which we use to put the explosive charge next to an underwater or mooored mine. It has a sonar that we use in the front to find the mine but it's small so we guide the sub in with the ships larger sonar system. The pilot for the sub and the large sonar sit side by side in Combat so it works out nicely.

Here is a pic taken when I was shore duty. I got tasked to head up a team off the coast of Ft. Lauderdale to lay excercise and taining mines off the coast for minehunting operations using satellites.

Here is a pic of my friend Jenna about to dive into the ocean. We stopped between Texas and Florida for a swim call.

Here is a pic of me taking the USS Raven over to the Middle East on the Blue Marlon which is a heavy lift ship. Some will remember the USS Cole getting hit by terrorist where 17 people died. The ship that brought that ship back to Mississippi is this very one. They dropped us off and left for home which is Russia and then turned around and came back to get the Cole. It basically sinks itself to allow another ship to float on top an then it raises itself up to piggy back if you will another. Was a great trip.

Just found some great stuff. Ok here is my ship being heavy lifted to the Middle East. I was on the ship at this point.

As I mentioned..the USS Cole got hit by terrorist and 17 sailors died. Here is a pic of the USS Cole on the same Heavy lift Ship about a month after we got there. Also below is a slideshow I just found..WOW-Shane

Im no engineer, but IMO a very smart person had to have developed that Blue Marlin...so the Marlin sinks itself, then resurfaces with the ship on board...to me that's really cool
