Those with personalized plates in NC

I ordered my plate about 2 weeks ago online. Wondering how long it usually takes to get my plate in? Some of you NC guys run personal plates, so how long did yours take from when you ordered it to when you received it.

thanks

Dang...you all are lucky! I think out here and in California it takes like 6 friggin' weeks! And they aren't even "stamped" any longer. They just look like a normal plate with stick on letters now. (completely flat)

very nice!

On the same topic: Does anyone from NC know why they changed the letters to red? I'm glad they did, but just wondering what prompted it.

You are one of the few people who liked the red letters! Personally I think they make the plate ugly. Complaints have ranged from everyone to the State Highway Patrol as the red letters make it very hard to read from a distance. Not for sure, but heard that they have already switched back to blue.

When I first moved to NC 32 years ago they were red. They were that way for several years before switching to blue and now they have gone back to red again.

After so many years, they start bugging you about needing to replace your tag when you renew due to the age of the tag. They did this on my Tbird and I kept telling them no before I started renewing online to keep from being harrassed about getting a new tag. As I recall, when they last switched from red to blue they eventually made it mandatory that you had to switch to a blue tag. Since you have to pay for the new tag in addition to the renewal fee, it seems to me like just another way for them to try to rake in more $$.
