03 Fuel shutoff at 5000 rpm

Help. 03 , 450HP, pulley, exh, cai, tune. 23,000 miles. Was pinging in 6th so I changed the fuel filter. Same. (suspect bad gas)Added Lucas octane booster then no pinging , but 2 seconds of white smoke when started.(suspect octane booster) When tank ran empty I filled with 3/4 tank good 91 octane, and now no smoke, no pinging, everything seemed fine until I ran it through 2nd gear and it WON'T REV PAST 5000 RPM. Fuel shuts off or somthing. Just falls on it' face every time. Please help.

Just drove it today and I can't get it to do it again. 4 hard pulls thru 2nd and one thru 3rd to 6500 rpm with no problem. What could it have been, and what should I do to keep it from happening again.

Could have been a number of little things...I would check your plugs after using the octane booster...nice thing is it's not doing it anymore

Someone who understands the 03/04 programming would help on this one. My guess is that there is a fail safe mode preventing the revs to go beyond the 5000 RPM mark if one of the various sensors are out of range. Check or clean the MAF sensor which may resolve some issues (leaning out issue you had in 6th gear). That reminds me I have to clean mine soon. As far as the smoke, yep fuel injector octane boost can cause smoke. I use it every now and then and have noticed similar things.

When was the last time you inspected the plugs? My guess is that something was running a bit hotter than it should be.
