SuperG's Drive to His New Home

Well, I made it to Grand Junction, Colorado (without any tickets this time!). The Terminator performed flawlessly, especially when in triple digits (thanks to the 2 on the motorcycles who led the way for about 45 minutes!). Needless to say, going 75 mph up steep hills in 6th gear was a piece of cake...you should have seen all the looks I got as I zinged past people struggling to go 55mph! That was fun!!

I took some pictures during my drive from Colorado Springs, through Fairplay to Breckenridge, then onto GJ on I-70.

Here's where I am leaving Colorado Springs for the mountains:

Then I get into the beautiful little canyon outside the Springs:

And it goes from sunny to rainy:

But we can still see the colors!

Now it's getting cold...you can see the slush build-up (and my expired tag):

Here's a pic inside the Eisenhower Tunnel, which I took on another day:

Here's Breckenridge - from here I head to Frisco (where I lived as a teenager)and get onto I-70:

I pulled off to Copper Mountain to refuel ($4.83 for Superunleaded 90 Octane):

It's pretty chilly outside...traveling between 70 and 80 mph this is my engine temp:

Now I am in Vail Valley, roughly 2 hours away from Grand Junction:

Here's a pic of Glenwood Canyon:

Every once in a while there's a break in the mountains:

And here's one of the reasons why I am moving here:

My first weekend in GJ was at the airport for a day to watch these guys:

So...it's cool (45-degrees) in the morning and warm (75-80) in the afternoon. It's dry...my hair stays shiny and full all day long! There are so many oilfield workers here that McDonald's is paying kids a $1000 signing bonus to work. Haliburton is paying 18 year-olds out of high school between $50-60,000!

Going to Vail to get season ski passes for the family...Stay in touch!!

Talking

Hey there Gary! Welcome to the SouthWest!

If you ever come down to Vegas, let me know. We'll have to meet up. Doesn't seem like we have much SouthWest participation here.

However, I have found a few Cobras here in Vegas, but every time I see them, they are driving the opposite way. But I did put a note on one in my complex (04, I believe) about the SCMC...hopefully they'll check it out.

Anyway, congrats on your flawless trip!

I'm jealous. I wished I still lived in Colorado. Excellant roads and great views. The skiing is excellant my favorite place to go was Winter Park. Remember to have your Cobra checked for A/F. I know it should not change that much but I would be safe and have it checked.
