Diff & Transmition oil change

Just wanted to ask peoples opinion on what is the recommended or best oils to use when changing oil in Diff & Trans, I have a noisy Trans actually hopefully a Trans change might quieten it down a little.

I have been using Mobil 1 for both applications.

I use Mobil 1 75W-90 synthetic gear lube w/ Ford's friction modifier (from dealership) in the diff.

I use Mobil 1 Mercon ATF in my manual transmission.

I have heard good things about the GM syncromesh (sp?) tranny fluid.

Royal Purple here with no issues. Smoothed the shifting on both, 94 & 01.

While I am on the topic of oil change all the literature I read mentions refill capacity for the Engine as 5.7lt. My mechanic uses about 7lt with a filter change does this sound right??

Yes, the manual calls out 6 quarts (5.7 L). I used to run 7 quarts (6.62 L) at the track trying to fight off oil starvation. 7 Liters seems to be a bit of overkill for daily driving of a stock configured cobra. I don't think 7 Liters would do any damage though.

I'm assuming you buy oil by the liter down there. If so, why not run 6 liters?

Just my two cents.

I also run 7 quarts of Mobile 1 in a stock oil pan on our 01. Oil pan capacity tests have shown that 7 quarts is not too much.

For diff fluid, I run Redline Shockproof 75/90.

For tranny, I use GM Syncromesh non-synthetic.

This weekend, I'm putting on the MGW shifter and I'm going to go ahead and change the trans fluid. Does anyone know off the top of their head how much it should hold? I think I'm going to go with Royal Purple.
