Moving to the area any recommendations

I am coming to the car show in April to see my daughter and her family including our grand daughter. I am also coming to meet people in the Charlotte area since we plan to move there about this time next year. Leaving close to the center of town is expense. Almost as much as it cost to live in Alexandria, VA where we now live. We are looking at Indian Trail. Where would you recommend that we look for a nice house with a garage (I have not had one for too long) in the range of $300k to $500k. If this is not a question that should be entered here, please feel free to remove it.

Ballantyne if you can swing it or even Weddington. With 500K, you can buy an extremely nice house and maybe even on the lake. If you live over the NC/SC line in SC, you'll have lower taxes and cheaper fuel prices. Fort Mill is a very nice place to live and is just 15 minutes or less to downtown Charlotte. I live in Rock Hill, but I like Fort Mill better.
