Supercharger for a 1999 Cobra

I was wondering if anyone knew of a great supercharger thats under 3000. I was also wondering if anyone knew if a stock 1999 cobra can take on a supercharger adder with only a slp cai upgrade. I'm trying to figure out what the 1999 cobra motor and trannies can take without blowing up on me within just a couple hundred miles. I am trying to get a built street car that could also be used as a daily.

My 99

After I bought my 99 in November, 2000 with 10,000 miles on it, I drove it for about 20,000 more miles, then applied most of the upgrades you can see in the listing below. The charger has now been on the car for 155,000 miles. The tranny is now a T56 which i love. Ford replaced the first 5-speed, but not the second one (which is why I now have the 6-speed).

Exhaust need to be opened up, intake fuel should be increased with larger injectors. The combination of items I had done has allowed my original engine to survive for 160,000 miles, then it began to spring leaks at the gaskets and show enough signs of wear to force me to replace it with a 2004 Mach 1 engine.

Anyway, it depends on what you want to do with the car (drag, road track?) as to what changes you make. If you abuse the engine, it will break.

And, if you plan to spend only 3000, I'm afraid the engine will break.

My car is strong, with 188,000 miles on it. I took care of it as well as I knew how.

What would you suggest a great supercharger for a 1999 cobra, and also should I just plan on doing just the bolts on first like injection, exhaust, throttle body, etc. I am wanting to make this car a daily with juice under the hood. I don't think ill be dragging it. Just want a bite in the cobra if you know what I mean.

The Vortech I bought for it in 2001 was the only one out back then. Since that time there are others available. We'll have to ask opinions from others who have experience with the 99 and other chargers.

sounds like when I baught my car. Once you do one thing you have to do another. The fuel system will have to be upgraded as well as the tranny to support a super charger. I was looking into a eaton swap off an 03-04 but after doing research it seemed like and endless list. Once you get to so many pounds of boost the internals need to be build up as well.

hope this helps!

It will be hard to find a supercharger and the upgrades that it will take for 3000.00.. I am in the same boat.. I have a procharger sitting in my bedroom waiting for the fuel system which will be 675.00 for a 03-04 cobra fuel tank and pumps. A bigger mass air meter that is about 230.00. My kit came with 42 injectors.. After those are addressed it will be time for a tune as you will need that also.. It can add up ...
