EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) delete

does anyone know how to delete the egr on the 1996 mustang cobra. I know i need to cap off the header with 1 cap on the passenger side and 2 caps on the drivers side. There is a vacuum hose that goes back in the firewall on the passenger side to something. I know this doesnt have any horsepower advantage but i just want to clean up the engine bay. i just want to here from someone who has done this and what i might need to know. Thanks

Since nobody has replied yet i figure i might as well put my 2 cent in. I think they might make kits for this. not sure on that though. but if it was me, i would just plug the holes in the exhaust manifolds/ get headers however headers are expensive. then i would get a block of plate for the egr control valve if i could, if not i would make one, and use rtv or just an egr valve gasket. and as far as the vacuum line i would have to see it, an 01 is different so i cant just go look at mine. i looked up the diagrams for yours and the line your talking about i think goes to the secondary air injection diverter solenoid and the secondary air injection bypass solenoid and from those to the their respected valves. I cannot tell you exactly what they do but what i would do is try to block that line coming off the intake completely first. then if it runs like crap like that then run the line bypassing where the egr was. this operation is probly gonna be more pain that it is worth but i would do the same thing if i didnt have to pass emissions because i cannot stand anything that makes my car more "green". Again i am no expert on this subject but this is just how i would do it. If you want to look at the diagrams go to and sign up for a free account if you do not already have one and go to repair guide for your car, driveability and emission controls and then vacuum diagrams. i hope this helps. let me know how it goes

I got my EGR delete plate and cap from these people for my '95. Don't know if they do it for '96s or not.
