How to check for OEM ECU Flash (tune)

I'm wondering if there is a way to check to see if my '04 Cobra has an original factory tune or not.
Currently, the car has a 2.75" upper pulley, stock lower (from what I can tell), a CAI, and SLP Loudmouth II's. Would the car run well on a factory tune or not with those upgrades?

What's the best way to check?

I'd hate to spend $300+ on a Diablo tuner only to find that what I have in the ECU now is the same as what's on the tuner.

Cheers!

Bob

If it's pullied and modded I would hope there is no stock tune in it. I would suggest spending the money and since you have no idea who would have tuned the car you might want to spend a little more money to bring it to someone reputable to dyno tune it. I wouldn't suggest a stock tune that would come with one of the programmers since every car reacts a little different to mods. A dyno tune will give you a little peace of mind to make sure it's not running lean. Welcome to the world of spending, then spending more....

Agreed!! You definitely want to have a custom tune done on a dyno and as mentioned above - make sure it does not run lean! That can and usually will spell disaster!

With the mods you mentioned, it should have a different tune than the stock factory code in the ECU. There is a way to determine the software version by initiating the HEC OBDII system check with the key and odometer button. I am not sure what the specific identifiers are for the stock code and I could not get that info from my car unless I return the tune back to stock. The process is as follows:

Place key in ignition, press and hold the odometer reset button (do not let go) turn the key to the on position but do not start engine. When the guages max out and return to normal let the odometer reset button go. After that, pressing the odometer button will display various items and sensor data in the odometer readout area. One of the parameters are the hex code number for the software (or tune). I found a link that I had used long ago, the same applies for the 03/04 models as well.
