Is one pulley better than another?

I'm gonna go with a 3" pulley set, and wondered if anyone has a preference on manuafacturers.

It seems the JDM set is "quick-changable" with an allen bolt arrangement, so if you wanna go back to stock (for a long trip, say), you dont need to put the s/c through the torture of pulling the pressed-on pulley back off.

Does anyone have suggestions if you think there is a better arrangement than this, or if this one has any flaws?

The quick change systems won't allow you to put your original stock pulley back on without pressing off the DUB housing and pressing it back on. You would have to buy a stock sized DUB pulley with your smaller one to be able to change it quickly.

I think you'll find if you change your pulley and get a chip tuned for it, you'll be happy with the power at your disposal even on long trips. I have a pressed on one and never had the desire to put the stock sized one back on. With the pulley boys puller, I wouldn't mind changing it anytime. It was a piece of cake!

So what did the pulley boys puller and pulley cost? Did you go with the 3.0"? I was told pulling the pressed-on pulley was a chore, and could get messy...though I get the idea that some folks try to pull it when the s/c is hot, and the metal is at it's largest diameter!

So...You never get a hankering to go larger or smaller pulley for the fun of it?

The JDM is sold as a set of stock (3.5), and 3.0 and 2.75 pulleys. Figured it might come in handy, if I wanted to tweak, but I guess I'd need a diablo multi-program chip for each pulley then, huh?

It was a piece of cake to replace the pulley. I changed mine in about 20 minutes by myself. I went with a 2.80 press on pulley and have never wanted to change. I have two chips. A 4-program JMS Autologic (not good) and a Diablo flip chip I am going to try next. It all depends on the tune. Go with someone big that has tuned hundreds of '03's like Nitrous Pete, Amazon Racing, JDM, .... I learned this the hard way.

Oh yeah, change your spark plugs after you add more boost.

What's the deal with the spark plugs? Have I read you need a "colder" firing plug?

Does it help reduced detonation?
