Steeda sport springs + Koni/Tokico's for '99 Cobra

I wasn't planning on spending my limited quantity of mod money on suspension pieces first since I haven't yet tracked the car and generally don't bend corners at 9/10ths. I'd figured I'd do gears first, not suspension, but a local guy has a set of Steeda sport springs + rear Koni's and front Tokico Illumina's for sale.

As I indicated, the stock IRS on my '99 Cobra is fine for the street driving I do and, aside from minor annoyance at the 4x4 look, I don't feel a great urgency to upgrade the suspension. But if the difference between the stock springs/shocks/struts and these parts is as great as the quantum difference in enjoyment between the stock and aftermarket shifters, then maybe I should consider this.

Can anyone give any feedback as to the "feel" of these pieces?

Would it be worthwhile to do this suspension work first, even if it means delaying gears for a long, indeterminate period of time?

Are there any other parts I should include or would require as part of this project such as CC plates?

I'm inclined to go for gears plus a pinion support brace but thought I'd solicit a little more input.

Are the springs for an IRS mustang? What type of Koni's...reds, S/A's, D/A's? You will notice a difference with the springs and shocks/struts. The ride won't be as "sloppy" for lack of a better way of saying it. You will most likely feel more confident should you decide to carve a corner. The gear is a good upgrade too...so that's a tough decision. My vote would be for suspension first, but I'm a suspension guy...you'll have to decide what you will like better.

I just noticed that you liked the difference between your stock shifter and the aftermarket one...the difference between stock springs/shocks/struts/ versus what you will be buying is night and day!!!

I'd get CC plates if you lower the car...helps to make sure you get proper alignment settings.

Yes, it's for a '99 IRS Cobra.

I haven't seen them yet but believe they are Koni Sport Yellows:

Like I indicated, the amount of mod money is limited, so what this suspension equipment would cost is likely the end of the budget for this year and maybe next.

The first upgrade I would do is subframe connectors/matrix brace/jacking rails.
Then do springs - shocks. When you do springs & shocks, I would suggest doing camber plates and strut tower brace at the same time. That way you only pay to do the alignment once......

Red's are non-adjustable...yellow's are either single adjustable (SA, rebound only) or double adjustable (DA, compression and rebound).

I have Steeda Sports springs on my 99 convertible. The ride is firm, not harsh. When I bought them they didn't make a version for the convertible and I'm changing them out for another brand (specific rate design).

I don't like the idea of mixing shock brands and they should be designed to work with the springs. Check with Steeda to see if they recommend those shocks. Also if you not one to fine tune your suspension I would recommend going to a non adjustable shock. There are many wrong settings and only one right one and if your not looking to get 10/10ths it could be very frustrating.

I agree in doing bracing first (strut tower, sub frame connectors, k-member brace) then shocks and springs with CC plates and urethane bushings. Find a company that you feel comfortable with and buy their system. You can buy as little or as much as you budget or need allows and know that as you add parts they are designed to work together.

You might check at www.kennybrown.com
They can put togeather a package that will work well for your application, Bilsteins (self adjusting), Koni's (single or double adjustable), or KW's (double adjustable)
