Red face HEY lady... ya can't PARK there!!!

well ----

I can park here ..... but I can't park there..... http://www.svtcobraclub.com/svtbbs2/...&threadid=4487

http://www.shutterfly.com/osi.jsp?i=...13e41d&notag=1

Jeff drove Tim out on the track -- and he asked Jeff what to say to me to make me feel better... & ... thats what it was --- "Hey Lady --- Ya can't park there!!" I love you Tim!! I'm sorry Tim & Flash --- thanks for being so "forgiving".... LITERALLY!!!!! A++++ to safety first!!
A++++++ to Kenny Brown and to TIM ---- Thank you for providing me with a very safe Cobra --- Our snake ATE that fence pole for me & my instructor!

safety first and BRACE before you RACE!!
not just for "performance" but for safety in case what happened to me happens to you.....
my instructor and I walked away from what could've been well - lets just say my instructor and I were happy to wave at the ambulance as it drove on by!!

-- and Flash escaped with allot less damage than he would've if the bracing and the cage were not there..... when you see the pictures --- you'll wonder.. but I did hit a grade 6 pole and it was cemented to the ground.... but Flash was insistant on "winning" and he did!!!!

HELMETS !! SEATS! HARNESSES! Roll cage & or street cage ---
He who modifies for safety - walks away to drive another day!!

Hi Bonny!

I hope you don't mind me stopping in the Ladies Room....I'm trying to get in touch with my feminine side *wink*

I just wanted to let you know that we are all here for ya! But you have to quit kicking yourself!

Stuff like that happens, it is unfortunate, but it happens. It is the risk you take every time you back out of the garage. You also have to look at the bright side....no one got hurt. Could you imagine if that had happened on the street? Maybe others will be able to learn from your experiences. I know its a hard on you, especially when you feel your cars are part of the family. But lets recap some more of the good lessons.....the car did more than its fair share of protecting you. You built safety first - one can never stress that one enough! You learned your limits in a safe environment, on the track where everyone is doing the same thing (not drinking cofee, talking on the cell, finishing the cross word and applying makeup - thats a "find your limit" discussion to be had later ~lol~)

Its a hard fact of life, but you have to be willing to take the risks that come with the thrills. This is the reason I stepped over to a track only car. I reached a point I couldn't take the risks of my daily streeter, especially if I was worried about driving home the next day. With the full out race car I dont worry about the sheet metal, etc. I know deep down some day something will happen. I put on my fire suit, check to make sure the fire suppression system is ready, climb in under all the roll bars, tighten the harness until I can barely breathe....if I can walk away from anything, I can build it over..maybe even better.

Hard point of life? Cars are like Doritos....crunch all you want...we'll make more *wink*

I'm sure Tim has forgiven you....he is like that, after all he married you right? He is good at making all the right calls *wink*

So now comes the hard part......Get off your whining butt and get back up on that horse (heard that one before have you?)

You CAN do it.....you WILL do it. Ask ANY of the professional racers...when they lose their sense of fear, its time to get out.
So.....get your butt to Gingerman in Sept. at the latest.
My car is yours for the sessions if you want it....although the instructor will have to run alongside *grin*

We'll all give you the group hug...but be prepared for the kick to the seat of the pants to get you back out having fun.

(Hey...I hear those "T"'s are a blast on the track *hint*hint*wink*wink*)

- yer brudder

hey brodder ..... step on into the ladies room anytime! and dont ya forget the dorito's.... and to follow me so as I don't get "lost".....

yes --- Lil Miss T is becoming a happy lil member of the "family".... although -- Flash and Trigger cannot understand her "language"

thanks for your offer for me to drive your car -- you are awesome!! -- they have already started on Flash and if they are not done yet -- well we will figure something out... just so Tim can drive --- I'll be happy. T is an Audi --- so --- well, we shall see. We are taking it to a Lotus event in September but I'm gonna stay in beginner where I belong .... we'd all have to do some pretty darn good convincing to get MR. Mach to let me bring an Audi Quattro

yup - I can do it -- !!
and your right
and I bet you could build it better!!
and I did (get off my butt)!!

GUess what? I basically got back into the saddle within an hour... shaking like a wild horse backed into a corner..... I was able to drive my instructors Bob Bondurant Cobra! Thank you for your confidence in me.... (although, I figured you were sort of off your rocker from the jolt maybe )

My instructor told me " you are gonna drive again aren't you?"
I said -- you'd better believe I am!! then - he offered me to drive his car....
I got back in the saddle almost immediately while poor Flash was being loading Flash up on the trailer.... someone wondered up to me and said it almost looks as if Tim has just as much fun WORKING on them as he does DRIVING them (they were right....)

someone later told me I did durn good..... and they were proud of me.......

I also had an awesome ride with Kenny Brown in Kermie and I also drove Tom's SVT Contour-- everyone said I "drove slow"...... but I'm not used to Tom's car and besides --- who wants to go home with two crashed cars?
I believe just getting back in the saddle was a great accomplishment considering..... I was shaky.....

My instructor actually encouraged me in his Bondurant Cobra - DRIVE IT!! So I did ..... and I really enjoyed it and actually pushed it a little bit ..... what a fun car to drive!!!!!!!

you know what?

nobody would let me pass .....
When I was driving Flash I was up on a few tails and they would just not let me pass on the straights --
no signal no nothing... no wave by... I was told
"I was too nice".... and I should pass them without the wave by and I probably SHOULD HAVE !!! ! but then again --- thats not me ......

anyway --- that last lap with Flash we were feeling awfully good and what happened was I was taking my own "lines" and I had several people behind me following me ... they even told me later they were following my lines -- so that felt good. The car in front of me was slightly faster than me on the straights but I kept catching him in the turns.... --- I won't go into too much detail because it was my fault and I shouldn't have "pursued" ...

IRP track does not have "rumble strips" at a few of the REAL apex points.... it has RUTS !! Walking the marks after the crash I realized that I had dropped the left rear wheel. -- I didn't even feel it, it was very slight....

All I knew was my back end seemed to mysteriously become unstable and --- like a fool ---
i took my foot off the accelerator... If I would've realized that I had gone off -- I would've steered a little slower back on and kept my foot on the throttle. Instantly --- as you all know --
I spun -- I don't know how many times - 2 - 3? but the guy behind me told me I spun left and went sideways --- and
guess what I slid into? a fence post ...... I must've slid say - 100 feet? it was a long agonizing time period ... everyone says it happens so quickly -- but time stood still for me and it was endless! once I spun --- I did not touch the brakes and I steered into the spin and just hung on for the ride..... Tim said he could tell that I didn't touch the brakes....
my instructor and I looked at each other just before the crash and we were both hoping that Flash would slide in between kind of like a field goal and I'd be able to stop, but that didn't happen.

The fence post stopped us and Flash was
well ---- what would you call it?

crucified ..... the fence post won. I'm glad it was a fence post and not a concrete barrier.
They had to torch the fence post in order to get poor Flash off of the post --- and it made a horrible "don't touch me" kind of noise when the guys moved it, it took allot to get him off of there.......

but you know what? After the
air bags went off, the dust settled and we both came to our senses we looked at each other and raised our eyebrow's.... the smack was hard --- " damn " hard.... I do not know how fast I was going ... we got out and I couldn't look. My door opened fine -- everything sounded tight. There was an amazing silence just after the SMACK..... there were no creaks, no groans --- nothing!! just smack....

Tim's welds - Kenny Brown's parts, suspension, cage, matrix brace, even the Cobra R wheel took all the force and made a possible disaster into a walk away type situation. I finally got brave after crying for awhile...
and turned around and looked.....

No damage to the hood. No damage to the door --- just the fender, the wheel, the K-member has some damage -- the coil overs --- and on the inside, the air bags and the rear view mirror....

I thought for sure Flash's engine was affected. But the hood opened beautifully and our new Stalker hood is fine!!

He (Flash) hit right at the front right tire and fender..... I'll get you a picture soon --

I cracked the wheel - broke the tire ofcourse -- mangled I should say..... My instructor kept apologizing to me --- but I told him NO !! it was my fault --

no ifs ands or BUTTS !! when I make a mistake I admit it.

I'm not even whining anymore --
grunting every now and then,
yes ----
but whining? NOPE .....

Your Audi is more than welcome at the event. I would rather see you there with the Audi than not seeing you there at all.

Yep, that was my mistake at Road Atlanta when I spun. I took my foot off the accelerator too fast and put me in a spin. It happens to a lot of people but you just have to learn from your mistake. I sure did.

Glad you're feeling better and I hope to see you at Gingerman.

Thumbs up Way to GO!

Bonny, I can't tell you how glad to hear you got right back on that "horse". Your whole story just evoke not-so-fond memories of my riding instructor...but we wont go there.

It takes a heck of a person to go thru that type of experience and then get right back into a strange car to try again. I'm not so sure I could do it.

IRP is one of those tracks thats scares the beegeezits out of me...I don't think I could ever run 100% there, too many places where even the smallest of mistakes leads to a costly event. I can't imagine actually RACING there side by side through some of the corners.

You are right about brother Dean....that boy can drive. Its funny to see an American Iron car whipping up on the American Iron Extreme boys. I hate to think what he will be like when he gets the suspension set-up really dialed in, can run the whole race WITH brakes (his last 3 laps at Gingerman were brake free - literally!).

If he keeps up I'll only get to pass him during parade laps ~lol~

And yes...bring the T to Gingerman....its fun to compare the snakes to the competition!

sorry you had a bad experience with an instructor --
mine took good care of me ..... and... THANKS!!! (you know who you are..... )

As for Dean --- I can't wait to see him & watch him drive -- but I do worry about him.... I'm a girl, I can't help it...

and, maybe I might let him pass too.... and maybe even you and Tony if ya behave urselves!!

as for being a
"heck of a person"

I don't think so...... I really wish someone would've warned me about IRP ----

guess I deserved it - this time I didn't even listen to my own voice....

if I would've listened to my voice and listened to that big STOP sign in my dumb blonde head.....
.......

Flash would be sitting in our garage getting some well earned Zaino.............................. can I say to myself
"I told you so"??? I was warning my own son ---
and then I did it.... I'm glad it was ME and not him.

thx for listening ----- don't worry

I just need to

LET IT OUT!!!!!!!

WHOA!!! Bonny, I had no idea you had such a terrifying experience. I always think I'd love to take our new Redfire 03 to the track, but I am too worried that something would happen to her. I guess the answer is to have a track car. I could handle that better. I'm really proud of you for jumping right back in there, and I'm glad it all worked out o.k. I have just one question - is this something the insurance will pay for? (Another concern I always have.) Keep on keepin' on, girlfriend

Bonny,
So you went off. There are only two kinds of people on track, those who have been off, and those who WILL go off. If you play long enough, and hard enough, it will happen.

Think about it, analyze it, understand it, but don't beat yourself up about it. It's just a mistake to learn from. I bet you won't do THAT again!

Don't forget last fall at MAM. I passed Tim, only to watch him drive by a couple laps later while I sat in the mud. It was a tiny mistake, but when you're on the edge that's all it takes. That's why we don't drive like that on the street... Well, that and Johnny Law!

Come on out to GingerMan, with whatever car you can. You'll have a blast and mistakes tend to be less expensive there.

yup ---

the insurance adjuster is there right now.

It is a Kenny Brown conversion and I was a good girl and had submitted all the info to the insurance months ago.

don't take Redfire on the track ---
too nice of a car!

Flash is our track car --- a little bit too expensive of a track car if you ask me ...... we both love it....

but, it is our track car and we both knew in the back of our minds that it could happen someday....

did ya see the pix?

Sorry Bonny, you're not ugly enough to be one of the "guys". You'll have to settle for being one of the "gang".
