Bob Olthoff

Bob Olthoff, well known in international motor sport circles and the
winningest race car driver in South African track racing history, passed
away after a brief but fierce fight against cancer. Beloved husband, father,
and friend of so many in South Africa and in his adopted country, he passed
away Sunday morning, April 18th, at Rowan Regional Medical Center in
Salisbury, NC.

The memorial service will be Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at 11:00 AM at
Tyatira Presbyterian Church, 220 White Road, Mill Bridge, NC. Reverend Sandy
Kern will officiate. There will be a reception and lunch in the church
fellowship hall following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in memory of
Bob Olthoff to Rowan Regional Hospice, 825-A Henderson St. Salisbury, NC

This email is being sent to everyone who does or has owned an Olthoff
Superformance and all who have attended Second Strike/Olthoff track events.
We do not have email addresses for everyone, so please pass this on to
anyone you believe would want to know.

I realize that a lot of you may not have known him, but some of us, including Shugg, Pearson, and myself, had the pleasure of attending some of the events with Superformance and seeing Bob wheel those Cobras around the track. Like it says above, his driving record is legendary and I feel lucky to have been able to see him drive. Our thoughts are with the family.

Bob attended the most recent Autofair, but did not look well at all. Sorry to see this, he was a legend. His son, Dennis, will carry on the tradition and the family business, I hope.

Dennis drove my Cobra for a few laps at VIR a year or so ago. It was a thrill to see him coming around Oak Tree turn in four wheel drift.

Thanks for passing this note along, Will.
