Tow Hooks/Loops

With the new NASA and SCCA regulations requiring tow hooks/loops, I can't seem to find any information about who sources these? Basically, I'm a non-welder and non-fabricator type and I'm looking for some help in this area.

I can't beleive I'm the only one out there who needs help getting some tow loops or hooks installed? BTW, I'm running a SN95.

I'd love to find those fold-down little red loops like on the Multi-matic "boy racer" cars.........

I've seen some guys use a good size eyebolt. I would think a 5/8" eyebolt would be plenty strong. Get one long enough and drill through your bumper tube.

I use a length of chain for the front. Requires a hole in the bumper cover.

Loop it over the 5mph tube and let it hang about 3 or 4 inches. On the back, I have a length of old seat belt attached just like you would seat belt with H bracket and floor plate. Attached at back of trunk frame and again on bottom of bumper so it pulls in 2 places.
Thought about a axle shackle out the license plate area, too.
I've had to use the chain 3 or 4 times , and it works fine.

Haha, I wouldn't know who or where to email them at. You know of a contact person over there? Seems to me that everyone has come up with their own version - maybe a market niche developing here? Maybe not.

Thanks for the info thus far!

I sent an email to the two guys listed in the Contact section on the Multimatic Mustang web page. I'll post here when I hear back.

I've got a buddy that is an engineer for Multimatic, I'll ask him.
I had asked him about the SEMA car and he said there was no plans to build anything like it. Just an engineering one-off.
There were several at Daytona GS-ST that had similar one, though.
About 1/2 way down is sort of what I use on the rear

Thanks for the info/replies. I may just use axle straps, a guy here in TX did a good job cutting them in half and looping them over a bumper support, then stitching the loop back to itself. That way you have something soft hanging out the front, can tape it down until needed.

Unless of course Multimatic has a "straight out of the box" answer. Since I'm no welder this is a tough problem for me to tackle.

Rob says MultiMatic made everything on the car. I emailed him again this AM to see if the hooks were for sale.

Good News!! Buy a MultiMatic GrandAmerican GT car ($120,000 turn key) and get a FREE tow hook.

Serious, look in the Ford Racing Catalog online. Should be added soon.

I've already mounted them but I don't have any pictures. I ended up going through the rear bumber cover so I doubt you will want to do that on the R. On the front, I ended up bolting it to the underside of the bumper beam. You can access it through one of the slots in the front bumper.

I think I may be installing them in Marc's car this weekend so I will try to take some pictures.

Go to the other thread"03 Champ car for sale" and look at the loop we made and put on! It is simple and is useable from front or rear. It simly attaches to the rollcage above the driver and sticks through the roof!
