I am in the same boat that you are in. I have heard that you have to buy a new battery tray and hold down to get an optima battery to fit in the mustangs. I had to modify my battery tray and make my own hold down in my old '94 GT. You might want to check with the optima web site.

Got the battery in today. Well it is a little wider but not as long as the factory battery. I just shoved it in the tray. Probably gonna have to find something to keep it from bouncin' around on big bumps.

Thanks Edswhite99, I think I will be getting one soon, or maybe I'll wait until I get my stereo system in. I will fabricate a new battery tray for the optima. I noticed there is a car in the snakepit that has a red top optima in his car with a hold down. I can't remember who it is off hand.
